Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The meter ECU detects the state of the front seat inner belt RH when the front passenger side seat is occupied with the ignition switch ON. If the front passenger side seat belt is not fastened, the front passenger side seat belt warning light on the integration control and panel blinks. If the seat belt is fastened, the warning light goes off.

CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Check for DTCs.

(1) for CAN Communication System NETWORKING: CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (2008 Sequoia) .

(2) for Airbag System SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

(3) for Occupant Classification System SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG No. 1)

(a) Remove the ECU-IG No. 1 fuse from the main body ECU.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT)

(a) Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select Active Test.

REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Temporarily replace the front seat inner belt RH with a new or normally functioning one SEAT BELT: FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia) .

CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT

(a) Check the front passenger side seat belt warning light function SEAT BELT: SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK (2008 Sequoia) .

OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light operates normally.

7.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - COMBINATION METER AND BATTERY)

(a) Disconnect the H45 panel connector.

(b) Disconnect the H37 meter connector.

(c) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

INSPECT INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the integration control and panel HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING PANEL: COMPONENTS (2008 Sequoia) .

(b) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 16 (IG+), and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 14 (PBEW).

(c) Check that the front passenger side seat belt warning light comes on.

OK:

Front passenger side seat belt warning light (for passenger side) comes on.
